Disguise
For my topic I have chosen Disguise. I have chosen this topic because I love the idea where you can't see the actual face - that face is always a mystery...
For my first type of pictures I have chosen to use "mask's", because by wearing the mask you don't know whats behind the mask for example you don't know what type of emotions they are having... UNDER THE MASK!
My 1st Set Of Pictures
WWWWith the masks I have used is that I found them in our drama department which was really usefully for me. Also the thing I like about it is that you cant see the emotions their in under the masks.

EBITo improve my pictures I think I should find more expressing masks and also displacing different background depending on the masks emotions. Or next time try to take it in different angles.
|
This is one of my favourite picture, which I would like to edit it and see how it will look if I change or increase the amount of brightness, contract, saturation and the sharpness.
My picture looked like this when I increased the brightness, contract, saturation and sharpness, which made the picture look brighter and have more contrast.
I've tried experimenting with different effects and I've kept the exposure the same but increased the highlights and the shadow of the picture to add some texture into it.
This time I decreased the temperature which added more blue, making the image cooler in tone.
I went and researched on a photographer that confuses on 'masks'. Which I found Ralph Eugene Meatyard. I really like the way which the masks has different face expressions that you wouldnt see the feelings they are in underneath the mask.
The Family Album Of LucyBelle Crater
This album was created my meat yards swan song and its was produced primarily during two years before his death. Which he died due to having cancer in 1972. The people he had used in his albums was his family members and friends, they wore halloween masks and which relatives wore transparent masks.
Yan Mcline
I have chose to search another photographer, I think Ralph Eugene Meatyard wasn't the actual photographer I aiming for. The photographer I was trying to find is someone that focuses more on gothic, scary dark masks. Which I found Yan Mcline, I really like the way which she takes her pictures from one angle of the face and uses several masks which links to gothic wise also which looks classic.
My Pinterest
I have joined Pinterest Board, because I think I can easily publish my pictures of masks on this site.
My 2nd Set Of Pictures
These are my second set of pictures that I have took at Thomas Tallis School. Also from school I have borrowed the white coat and the brown hat, but the mask I have purchased myself. I really like this mask which is Vendetta, that has a lot of history behind that mask. I've also tried 2 types of background which I tried a yellow brick background which didn't quite give me the look I was looking for but I had also tried a white background, that linked in with the jacket the model was wearing.
The history of V for Vendetta.
V for Vendetta in Warrior originally appeared in black-and-white. The story depicts a future history of the United Kingdom in the 1990s preceded by a nuclear war in the 1980s, which has left much of the of the world destroyed, though most of the damage to the country is indirect, like floods and crops failures.
My Two Favourite Pictures
The reason why I have chosen these 2 images as my favourite because the first picture makes it look really suspicious, but the second picture looks scarier because he's facing towards the camera.
Editing...
This edit I have used for editing my final piece, I tried editing my pictures with this edit which I downloaded it to Photoshop which I could edit more of my picture than just using this edit.
My Final Pieces
These are my final pieces which took a lot of time to get it this perfect, trying to find the right angle and position of the person, we had taken so many pictures trying to find the right costume, mask and hat to make it more mysterious. I have searched a lot of sites that I could use to edit my pictures that I have chosen as my final pieces. But finally I and Sir had found the right edit that i could use. We downloaded it and edited the picture through Photoshop, which took time to find the right edit for the picture. But at the end I managed it and got these 2 final pieces.
Lorenzo Vitturi
Lorenzo Vitturi’s vibrant still life's capture the threatened spirit of Dalston’s Ridley Road Market. He has a gallery at East London at Dalston, his installation at the gallery are temporary structures of the market using raw materials, sculptural forms and photographs to explore ideas about creation, consumption. Lorenzo Vitturi uses photography to set scenes of his thoughts and ideas through manipulation of space, and following the projects of creation ideation to realisation.
These are some of his images from the gallery.
These are some of Lorenzo Vitturis work, which really inspires me. I like the way which he finds different types of object which doesn't relate to the picture that he has taken but tries linking them in some sort of way; the way which he he blends the colours and try to get the position of the object in the picture, and also his pictures link with my project that all of the pictures that he has taken, that all of the people either there faces are covered of there facing to the side which you cant see the face. Also we thought about comparing our work with this work, what type of pictures he has taken; in what angle did he take his pictures? , What position?, What colours did he use?, Was he working like you? Was his worked linked with yours?
My Mind Map Of Lorenzo Vitturi Work.
As a class we have looked at Lorenzo Vitturis work which we all created a mind map focusing on our project.
Ideas
I have thought to do something like this because it inspired me, which I liked the way the words spread out which links with the picture. I thought about doing something similar and using some words that relate to me and my feelings.
Some other ideas
I also researched some other pictures linking with the research we done about Lorenzo Vitturi. I liked the way that the photographer has used different types of objects which covered the whole face which we don't know who is the actual person underneath the objects.
Third Set Of Pictures
I really thought about doing something weird but also that looks really nice, so I thought of doing something like this which I have used my sister as my model and my little cousin, I tried covering there face which you can only see their eyes so you don't actually see their face and that you don't know which emotions their in.
The Photographers' Gallery
As a class we went to The Photographers' Gallery on the Tuesday 30th September, these are all on my pictures that I have taken while at the gallery.
The Photography In Russia
Primerose showcase the appearance and development of colour in russian photography from the 1860s to the 1970s. It presents both the history of Russian photography and the history of Russia through photography, depicting life over the course of a century, as the country endured unprecedented upheaval. The exhibition is arranged in chronological order and shows the development of photographic colour technology and the social transformation which altered the role of photography in Russian society.
Final Piece
I have chosen to do something like this because it looks like I have used a needle and thread but really I have just cut strips from the eyes and used another picture of my Esra's eyes and placed it into my picture. I first struggled doing it because some strips didn't stay or it kept coming out so it took some time doing it, but then when I was finished I was out of choses to either cut up the strips that were sticking out of the picture of if it should of stayed like that. Which I asked everyone in the class if the strips should stay or should i cut them off some said they should stay or cut them off, everyone said they both look nice but obviously you have to pick one out of the two. So what I done is printed another A3 paper of my final piece but cut the eyes out so I could see how it will look without the strips... which I preferred the picture without the strips.
Day out at ExCel London
I have taken these pictures when I went to ExCel London due to my mums a hairdresser and beautician we went to an exhibition that was going on that day which I thought would be a good idea of taking pictures of buildings for my final piece.
Step by steps
This is the picture I have taken at ExCel London for my final piece.
Which after I dragged the picture into photoshop and done adjustments to the picture.
After that I have decreased the threshold level of my picture.
Then I thought of an idea of reflecting this picture many times so I had to increase the size of the page.
I went to canvas size, I changed the height of the page into 200 percent...
... and got something like this, so I can place the same picture with the other picture.
Looking something like this.
After I flipped the picture vertical.
Then I got this as a result
So I can flip it again I had to change the canvas size to 100%
Getting something like this...
Using the transform setting I flipped the picture horizontally
Got this at the end...
I wanted to find the middle of the picture, which I created a new guide
...and entered 50% to find the middle vertically
Which after I selected it and paste it into another page
Because I had half the picture into 2 I placed the two pictures into different pages, so I could print both of them the same size then I could mount both the pictures that will after look like a large final piece (A2).
My Final Pieces
Horst Patterns From Nature
I tried to find a photographer that focused on the theme and style that I have done for my final piece, which I found Horst Patterns, he uses different several patterns that he flips it several times to get one type of image, also the thing I have realised with his work is that he always uses the edit black and white with really sharp edges.
Evaluation
AO1: Research and Idea
For my theme I have chosen "disguise" because I think its a good theme anyone could chosen, its a theme which you could do anything for example take a random picture of someone walking in the street and you could splash paint on there face maybe cut strips and replace different colour papers through it or another face it doesn't matter, or maybe you could stick objects, cover the face maybe the arms and legs with natural stuff. At first i didn't know how to begin my research but I thought about taking a set of pictures so I could get an idea about what to begin with, after I done a bit of research on which artist focused on the topic i was doing which also using masks for there photography. Trying to find an artist that focusing on masks was hard to find cause I was quite picking on the type of masks they are using, so I searched it on Pinterest if I could find any on there but there wasn't any I really liked. As I kept researching things through Pinterest I had found some idea for other final pieces for my project, and also seeing different ideas that other people have done and going to art exhibitions gave some ideas to me. I don't really think I had a best idea cause really every time I had thought of something at the end I would of changed my idea into something much different but out of all my final pieces my best idea of a final piece is the picture of me with a paris scarf and that I had an idea of sewing strips on the sisters eyes on top of mine.
AO2: Experimenting, Developing and Refining
When I had decided on which picture I was going to use for my final piece it was quite hard to decide on which designs to add or the edits to use on the picture which research comes in handy with them stuff. I would search up some ideas similar to my final pieces, and maybe do something similar to the photographer that I had searched. Many times I have used Photoshop to control my editing of my pictures for my final pieces, i've used Photoshop many times because its easy to use thats also easy to control. I think my work developed over time is by researching different photographers each time i thought of something different for another final piece. I have refined 3 pieces of final pieces which the first one has been using photo action that I have controlled it by using photoshop, that also I have learnt how to use different settings on photoshop, my 2nd refinement was the weaving, at first I wasn't quite cure if I really wanted to do the weaving but then I said to myself I want to take the challenge, so I cut strips on both pictures which took some time weaving little strips each time. single by single, but at the end I got he result I wanted. My 3rd refinement was the cranes which the refining was trying to reflect them many times to the right response.
AO4: Evaluating Final Outcomes
As a response to my chosen theme I have created many final pieces by using many different skills and techniques. I have chosen to display my pictures by mounting my pictures onto a mount board. The things that went really well in this project is that I know that I was doing and that I kept doing researches on what other type of final pieces i should do by doing a lot of researches you will get a lot of ideas, but the thing I could do better is displaying my final pieces in a different style; a style that will attract people when they look at it. I think the one that links to my topic of disguise out of my final pieces are the with 'cranes' this is because the editing that I have used are photoshop which the picture doesn't actually show what the actual object is which links to my topic more than my other final pieces.
