Photograms&Rayographs
What is an photogram?
A Photogram is a image that is a image created without an camera, by placing different items or objects on a surface. Photograms&Rayographs are both experimented in a dark room where there are all chemicals.
Experiments...
This is my first attempt when I went into the dark room. I didn't really know what to do with the equipment I had in front of me, also how to get the lights work on the machines.
This photo is my second attempt, I knew what I was doing, with the things I had in front of me and how to make the red and white light to go on and off.
When I went into the dark room you can not see nothing, there were 2 types of light; RED&WHITE. When your taking the paper out of the folder you have to use the red light so the paper doesnt expose. When we went to the machines we placed the paper on the surface, on top of the paper we put different objects on it, after that we put the red light on so we can see where about we put the objects. Next we put the timer on and the white light to 5.5 seconds. After that we had 3 stages the DEVELOPER & STOP & FIX, we had to put our paper through those stages, and it will be complete.
Man Ray
Man Ray made his "rayographs" without a camera by placing objects-such as the thumbtacks, coil of wire, and other circular forms used here-directly on a sheet of photosensitized paper and exposing it to light. Man Ray had photographed everyday objects before, but these unique, visionary images immediately put the photographer on par with the avant-garde painters of the day. Hovering between the abstract and the representational, the rayographs revealed a new way of seeing that delighted the Dadaist poets who championed his work, and that pointed the way to the dreamlike visions of the Surrealist writers and painters who followed.
