Year 11 Mock
The theme that I have chosen is "Texture" this is because I really want to focus on buildings and I thought that texture will be the right theme for me to use for the buildings, the reason why buildings is that I want to become an architecture in the future, hopefully.
Some Thoughts...
To gather some ideas and thoughts, I thought about searching my theme 'texture' on Pinterest, but I couldn't find the things I was looking for so I searched some images on "tallis arts" on Pinterest.
My First Set Of Pictures
While I was out on a school trip, we went to visit Canary Whalf, while I was there I had a thought that taking pictures of the buildings there, which was a good idea this is because juts by taking pictures I would be able to experiment with them, do whatever I feel like with them, I could edit them with photo shop or maybe even do some chemical work in the dark room. Well the reason why I have chosen to take pictures of these buildings as you can see, the amount of design and texture they have put into one building.
When the trip to Canary Whalf ended the next day we had travelled to Kent Enysford. As we all know, the houses at Kent are massive, huge, plus really expensize, but with the best designs ever. However going back to where I was, the texture that the architect has given to the buildings is increadible. But as I have said before I could do anything with these pictures, with these pictures by editing with them in photoshop I could use them for my final pieces mayb, but what I could of done better next time is maybe taken more pictres around the city, maybe even taken the picture in a better angle.
Then for our final destination we went to Greenwich Cutty Sark. Well Greenwich was also a really good place to go and take pictures for my project. So while I was there I thought of taking pictures but then I realised that I didn't really much time. But these were the pictures I took while I was there they could of been better and I could of done that by taking the pictures in a better angle or with a better camera instead, so next time I would go there with my DSLR and take better quality images for my final pieces. But some bits could go well, and I think this because I still could maybe uses these images in the dark room and create something out of it.
An Image From Pinterest...
I was inspired by the way the photographer has created a type of spiral with buildings.
Editing...
I first inserted the image I wanted to use and then selected the elliptical marquee tool,
After I have selected the elliptical marquee tool, I created a circle then rotated it,
Then just keep repeating the same steps but making the circle smaller each time.
Final Piece:
By using one of the images I have taked while I was on a trip, I thought of maybe even editing it. So while I was going through Pinterest I saw an image that really had inspired me. With that image I thought of creating my very own.
Harry Callahan
Harry Callahan had no written records, no diaries, letters, scrapbooks or teaching notes. He would just wake up some random morning, walk around the city that he lived in and take numerous pictures. He would spend nearly all of his afternoons on making proof prints of that days negatives. Which till the end of the year he would have over millions of final images. His main photographies are of his wife and daughter and the streets, different scenes and buildings of cities where he lived that showed a strong sense of line and form, light and darkness.
Aaron Siskind
Aaron Siskind was an American photographer widely considered to be closely involved or if not a part of abstract expressionist movements. Also Aaron Siskind focused on the details of nature and architecture, which he presents them as flat surfaces to create a new image out of them.
Second Set Of Pictures
I went out took some set of pictures located at Thomas Tallis School, which I tried to link my work to Aaron Siskind. I looked at different types of natural stuff which had different textures on them but when I was taking the picture so that my picture could link into Siskind's work I had only take a part of the objects, this is because the audience could think, what could the object be? What is it this image/ What is it trying to tell us?
WWWThe pictures that I have taken, went really well but Thomas Tallis doesn't have that many different textures on theres buildings or on the ohter objects located there. But lucky I did find some objects and natural forms with textures.

EBIWhat I could do better next time is going somewhere where there will be better natural forms with different types of textures on them, so it will make it look better plus give it a better effect if I get to the point of editing them.

Step By Step...
I thought about editing my picture with photoshop...
After I converted my pictures into black and white...
...and made it all maximum black...
Because Aaron Siskind's work was as a square I cropped my pictures.
Edits...
I have taken my set of pictures and edited them with photoshop, that I only changed the picture into black and white and only picked out the pictures that were in focus, also if the picture was too dark I had changed the levels of the picture. Which Ive realised he only takes pictures as a square picture so I cropped my pictures into a square.
Step By Step...
At first I had chosen the pictures that I wanted to edit.
After want I have done is, I have layered my two pictures together...
After layering my pictures together I had decided to changed the layer into "darken" and also decrease the "fill", to see both the pictures blending into each other.
Edits...
I thought I could try something different by using the pictures that I have taken before and just laying 2 or 3 pictures on top of each other, which I got these as results...
Final Pieces:
By converting the images into black and white and cropping them into a square plus layering over 3 of my pictures would probably make my viewers think... For example they could probably start questions themselves by saying, what is the photographer trying to tell us? What is in the picture? What type of techniquesdid she use? What objects has she taken or used in these images? But this is the thing I want from my viewers for them to question themselves about my images that I have created.
Final Piece...
By joining two pieces of my final piece i created one instead, because I thought joining the natural and the urban world together would make something different and by contrasting the two reflected images together made something really confusing this is because it make you think that types of objects are in these pictures and the patterns.
Third Set Of Pictures
While walking around Woolwich, I saw broken walls, walls that has been sprayed all over, pipes thats maybe not even in use. But just with these types of pictures I could do whatever I feel like with them. If you take a close look at each picture you could see the different types of textures that each object has or even the wall; for example the walls are all broken so if you went to touch it, it would be all lumpy.
WWWThe thing that went well was that, the time I didn't think of taking pictures for my project I found objects that linked to my project, whihc went successful this is because I had found walls that has been broken or maybe even damaged, walls that was probably been there for months or maybe even years so this means that they weren't looken after, however there were also pipes that was really interesting cause if someone told me that a pipe would have texture I would not of believed them, but when you go out yourself and investigate them you realise.
|
EBINext time, I could maybe go to places that had buildings that has been there for years, where there are buildings that has been broken up with texture. Plus by going to places like that I could even take more pictures, so I could create another final piece out of them. Maybe even I could possibly take more than 50 pictures of these types of buildingsin different angles.
|
Experiments...
I think this picture is a really good picture which I think that the picture has alot of different types of texture on it, which the walls has it own colour and texture, and I like the way which the pipe just there with different colours and textures.
Final Piece
Horst Patterns From Nature
Horst focused on black and white effects that with all of his final pieces its always reflected many times which I tried too link my work with his work. I think that his work is interesting this is because when your looking at his picture you don't know which angle of the picture you should look at it and also you have too think about what type of object it is in the picture.
Another set of pictures.
I while I was enjoying my summer with my family in Turkey, we went to visit the most famous waterfall in Turkey located at Antalya. Well the reason why I have decided to take pictures of this waterfall is that you could see the texture that the water give while it falls.
Edit...
The photos Ive used are the ones at the bottom I thought these two was really useful this is because the amount of different textures and colours it has. I tried linking the two pictures together to make another form of picture, which I think I could improve this picture by editing it in different ways.
Karl Blossfeldt
Karl Blossfeldt is an recognised for his extensive and unique collections of photographic plants portraits that reveals tactile qualities of flora. That also he take remarkable photography of plants to educate his students and other young photographers about designing elements of nature.
Matt Wisniewski
Matt Wisniewski is a self-taught artist & web developer who creates beautiful photo collages, he also creates digital collages by blending fashion nature photographs together. The aim of his work is to create surreal images.
Another set of pictures...
The lens I have used is telephoto, which the reason why I used this lens is because I want it to focus on one particular bit of my object, and that the background of the picture is really in focused which you see the picture clearer.
Another set of images.
To take more images in the studio and to create some images n the drakroom with the chemicals I had to go out a pick out some plants that were either was about to die or that was still looking alive. So when I went out I have chosen these plants this is because you could the detail in the plant also if I do some cyanotype, while it has been through the processes on the actual image you could probably see all the little detail on the plant.
Portfolios
Taken portfolios like these with; different emotions and different positions. I'm going to over lap them flowers, inspired by the photographer above.
Final Pieces
The thing that I really wanted to do is combinding my natural forms and my porfolios together. Well the pictures I have taken before hand, came in handly so what I did is used photoshop to do the magic for me. An photographer that I had found is matt wisniewski, he was doing the same things that I have thought of, plus the way he had linked them together, I was inspired by he's work but his work mostly are all coloured, however I wanted it to be a bit different and I converted my images into black and white which gave it a different look.
Edits
First I selected the image I wanted, then I layered it.
Then I masked my image,
After I refined the edges so I could see every bit of the hair,
Then, I opened up another image to copy it on top of my original image,
After Ive done that, I changed my original image into black and white which the image I selected afterwards I kept it its natural colour so you could see the face and the plant from behind.
Evaluation...
The topic I have chosen is texture this is because I thought this topic would be the best topic which I could engage all my idea into. At first I really wanted to focus on buildings and when I thought about it the best one was picking texture. This is because if you realise the amount of design and texture they put into on type of building. While working through this topic of course I did not have many ideas from the start but all I wanted to do is something that’s got to do with buildings. Well to develop some ideas for my chosen theme I decided to look through pinterest – which was really successful this is because it would show you things you wouldn’t really think about in the first place, but of course you have to use other type of techniques to create the type of picture they have displayed on pinterest. I have sustained and focused on my investigation by finding the picture that has in spired me and keep that going by taking several different picture of many different object for example the building and creating the spiral out of it using photoshop. But also inspired by Harry Callahan, this is because he focused on buildings plus what I liked about he’s work was that he wouldn’t take a picture of the whole building only the centre of the building, plus afterwards he would change the edit to black and white. By using Harry Callahan as my inspiration, I thought of creating my own images reflecting towards he’s work. So I went out and taken many set of images and edited them with photoshop; by changing the effect into black and white then cropping it into a square. While creating another final piece of work, I would record all my work in process so it would help my other class mates whenever they got stuck with the same process as mine so they would just check it out and create the same thing but similar. The final piece that I have created iht the ideas of many different photographers and the pinterest board, by using them you would look at all and try to combined them all together to make a final outcome. Well that’s what I did just by takin g many different set of pictures of different things just with them you could create whatever you feel like but only if you have an idea. With this unit I am really satisfied with the work of process I have put into this unit. This is because I have created a site that has been really useful for me also as I said before by taking several picture it will get you somewhere. Just because of them my ideas have grown and by also looking and researching many different photographers that link to your topic.
